Back to the Sleepy Dog! I’m a huge fan of quirk, and this place is full of it. Exceptional beers. Seriously. And just about any kind of food you want — delivered. Huh? That’s right. They don’t have a kitchen. But they do have great relationships with all the best delivery places near by and a host of menus to choose from. You don’t go hungry. Or thirsty.

In recent months, SD has been loading up on additional beers, a few wines and even organic hummus. Talk about branching out!

WHY: You really need to come out to Whole Foods for #evfn. It’s usually the final Friday, but this week we moved it up by one to accommodate another event they have going on. So if you show up next Friday, you’ll miss us.

And how stinking cool is it that you can drink inside a grocery store? The Tapas Bar at WF is loaded with at least 8 excellent beers on tap and 24 bottles of wine. And if that doesn’t do… it for you, they have — literally — the widest selection of bottles and cans in the state. Quite possibly the world.

You want to eat? OK. Smoked roast beef. Sushi. Fresh hand-made pizza. BBQ. Indian food. You name it. It’s here. And if it’s not, they’ll make it for you.

WHY: BONUS: Evo’s mom and her cast of crazy friends will be with us. So if you want to see why he’s the way he is, this is your chance!

To say we were impressed by the fare at Il Vinaio is an understatement. To say we were catered to at Il Vinaio by Cameron and crew would be another understatement. So it’s really no surprise that we’re headed back again so quickly. In fact, I have a feeling we’ll be making this a regular stop!

Il Vinaio pulls off being a classy wine place without being pretentious. Their craft brew selection is good, but limited. I’m working on expanding that. And the food… Oh. The food. I’ve not had occasion to type nom nom nom before this, so consider that.

Best of all — there’s plenty of room for us! And music kicks in a little later in the evening, played at a level so we can continue talking up a storm.

WHY: On occasion, we like to take the “east” in our name seriously. This week is one of those. We’re headed up north, but very much on the east side of this big-ass city. We’ve been invited to Primebar, enticed with drink specials and other goodies. This place has only been open a few weeks, and they want us to test out their ability to handle a crowd. No worries. A crowd we have.

In fact, it’s a bigger crowd than usual. The fine folks from our sister group #nfvn are also joining us. I really enjoy the chance to hang out with other #pfn groups — here’s another chance!

UPDATE:Looks like the others didn’t want left out in the cold either! The down-towners from #dtfn and the west-siders from #wvfn have also decided this is the place to be. Now if we can just revive #lrfn and get them there, it’ll be one big happy family!

WHY: You’ve probably heard of the Gangplank move by now. If not, Gangplank moved to downtown Chandler. The sole employee of said tech incubator and collaborative workspace has planned an open mic night this Friday at 8pm. So we’re going to head down to eat and drink at Siracha before that. Derek Neighbors has assured me that the manager Virakon will take good care of us.

If you want to head to the open mic after, feel free. If you’re not quite ready to give up the night life, there are plenty of bar-type options available in downtown Chandler.
