WHEN: Friday, September 4, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
WHERE: Studios 5C Gallery
502 S. College Ave
Tempe, AZ
WHY:You look like you need some culture. Studios 5C is always a great place to get that, with plenty of beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres sponsored by Lunchbox Collective. Oh, and an artshow.
This month they are featuring the artwork of Logan Bellew. He is currently a student at Arizona State University in both the School of Art and the Barrett Honors College working his way towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in photography. His installation is called “Clean #2″. Here’s his explanation.
There is an amount of futility in trying to regain that which has been lost. If we manage to recover it, our experience will forever be filtered through the memory of that loss. In this exhibition of photographs, I have tried to identify the process of cleaning with the experience of loss, using the former as a metaphor for the later. In the photographs, the process of cleaning debris from the body illustrates how all of the elements that exist before the cleaning process still exist even after it is completed. However, the process of cleaning – like loss – alters the results indefinitely.
This promises to be a big event, as it’s a Light Rail tweetup and *I think* an #lrfn gathering, too. Killing all sorts of birds with one beer bottle!
Date: August 28th, 7pm-whenever

WHEN: Friday August 28, 2009 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
WHERE: Whole Foods Chandler
2955 W Ray Rd
Chandler, Arizona 85224
WHY: It’s the “final Friday” of the month. That means we return to Whole Foods in Chandler. Yes, it’s a grocery store. But you haven’t experienced the store like this. Eight or more kegs of craft-brewed beer. Dozens of wines-by-the-glass to choose from. And your food choices are… legion. It’s not your typical experience. Then again… neither are we.
Come find us in the Tapas bar. #evfn folks get discounted drinks and our own special menu. So be sure and leave a review of Whole Foods here on Yelp. The more we pimp, the more we’ll get!
Light Rail Friday Night
August 28th, 2008 at 6:30pm
Old Spaghetti Factory
1418 N. Central Ave, Phoenix
Central/Mcdowell Light Rail Station
The last time LRFN was at The Old Spaghetti Factory, there was this crazy jinx that prevented a few people from coming. But I’m a firm believer in this place so I’m gonna try it again. If you have kids, The Old Spaghetti Factory was ranked one of the top ten restaurants to take children.
If you’re riding the light rail, it’s super easy to find. Just take the light rail trail to the Central/McDowell station and poof, you’re there.
Please RSVP here for you facebookers and here for you twitter peeps
A bit of late scheduling on this one, so if you can’t make it on such short notice, my bad.
I’ve been given the reins for overall host of West Valley Friday Nights from the GKA Kevin Spidel (Genius Known As). I was at the first and have enjoyed several since then.
Tonight 4:30-9 p.m, Yardhouse @ Westgate
9401 West Westgate Boulevard
Glendale, Arizona 85305
(623) 872-3900
www.yardhouse.com
Happy Hour ends at 6 p.m. FWIW
Come and say high, pose for a picture – or not. Pretty just unwind time, with movie time afterwards pretty much next door
Cheers
Temple
In celebration of the newly revamped Phoenix Friday Night, we ask you to come celebrate the newest rage taking over the valley…optimism! Join #dtfn and The Optimistic People of Phoenix aka Phoenix Actually up at Sunset Bowl in Sunnyslope for some boogeying, bowling, and boozing!
Phoenix Actually is a movement dedicated to promoting optimism and positivity within the Phoenix community. This Friday night, we are partnering with them to bring you a night of fun and games you’ll never forget!
Optimism FTW! So leave your troubles at the door ; )
Bring the kidlets down to September’s #nvfn at Whole Foods on Mayo Blvd, who has invited us in for a tour of the store, food samples and goody bags for the kids to take home! Stay after the tour for dinner and a beer! September 25th, 6pm.
Please RSVP as the family events tend to be larger: http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/4408009/?ps=5
WHEN: Friday August 21, 2009 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
WHERE:Geisha A Go Go
7150 E. Sixth Ave.
Scottsdale, AZ 85251
WHY: Until someone claims #sfn (Scottsdale Friday Night), I’m making it a point to bring some #evfn further north. This time we’re headed to Old Town Scottsdale to sushi bar Geisha A Go Go for authentic Japanese cocktails and tasty sushi! To sweeten the pot, Grant is giving us some complimentary tray passed cocktails, along with some appetizers and a few complimentary karaoke rooms for people to hop in and out of.
Some folks calls it a tweetup. I calls it an #evfn. Remember the agenda: no agenda. Have fun. Meet people. Party on! And bonus points if you can work out the meaning of the post title.
Tonight the #dtfn crew will be hanging out at Matt’s Big Breakfast to support the PJs and Eggs Charity Event. You should meet us there.
North Valley Friday Night (notice the singular Night) meets the last Friday night of each month. This month, on Aug 28th at 7pm, we’ll meet at Old World Brewery (201 W Lone Cactus, Phx, 85024, basically exit the 101N at 7th Ave and go north, make a right on lone Cactus and Old World Brewery is on the right).
You’ll love this cool local craft brewery which also has a built in pub and music venue. Try a flight of 5 beers ranging from the light and citrusy Old World Wit to the dark coffe-chocolate Dark Ale porter (not bitter or heavy like a typical dark beer), and $3 pints. Even if you don’t like beer you will definitely find something here that you like, especially since they’ll happily blend 2 varieties for a custom experience (like the “strawberry blonde”- a mix of Wit and Red Ale). Stay for live music starting at 9pm!
Old World Brewery does not serve food- please have something to eat before you come down if you’re a lightweight
