Where: Co+Hoots 825 N. 7th Street / AMC Arizona Center 24 565 North 3rd Street

When: Friday, July 2, 7:00 pm / Movie at 9:10

So this week is the opening celebration for two amazing things: Co+Hoots–a kickass co-working space downtown, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

What does that mean to us? Well, we’re gonna hang out at Co+Hoots for their opening celebration then head down to AMC Arizona Center 24 to catch the 9:10 show. We are probably going to want to be about an hour early to the theatres, and it is a good idea to buy your tickets as soon as possible.

See ya there!!!

DTFNAvatarSmallWhat: Karaoke and Celebrating Samantha’s Birthday

Where: Apollo’s 5749 North 7th Street

When: Friday, January 15 2010 9:00 pm

So, it is the first time we’ve had #dtfn at a gay bar. Go figure. It just so happens that the best Friday karaoke in Central Phoenix is at Apollo’s, so that’s where we’re heading. Sure, it is a little later than usual, but it is going to be a great time. Oh, and it is Samantha’s (@tambre) birthday. We hear she loves karaoke.

WHEN: Friday, Nov 20th from 6p – 8p

WHERE: Whole Foods Chandler
2955 W Ray Rd
Chandler, Arizona 85224

WHY: So yeah… a grocery store. By now, all of you regulars know what to expect. A fantastic time. For you noobs, no… we don’t drink in the isles. Whole Foods has a fantastic Tapas bar. 8 beers on tap and at least a dozen open bottles of wine. And if none of those strike your fancy, grab any bottle — or can — off the shelf and enjoy it in the bar.

Food? Oh yeah. Sushi, BBQ, salad, pizza, burritos, prime rib… this place isn’t lacking for fresh made delicious food. Really, you have to experience it believe it. So why not do it with us? We love new folks!

And if you’re of the mind to be helpful this Thanksgiving season, Nick — you know him as @raillife — is collecting $1 (or more) from everyone. It’s the annual Rail Life Turkey Drive. Last year he collected enough donations to get almost 900 pounds of turkey for needy families. So help out if you can.

Some folks calls it a tweetup. I calls it an #evfn. Remember the agenda: no agenda. Have fun. Meet people. Party on!

North Valley Friday Night (notice the singular Night) meets the last Friday night of each month. This month, on Aug 28th at 7pm, we’ll meet at Old World Brewery (201 W Lone Cactus, Phx, 85024, basically exit the 101N at 7th Ave and go north, make a right on lone Cactus and Old World Brewery is on the right).

You’ll love this cool  local craft brewery which also has a built in pub and music venue. Try a flight of 5 beers ranging from the light and citrusy Old World Wit to the dark coffe-chocolate Dark Ale porter (not bitter or heavy like a typical dark beer), and $3 pints. Even if you don’t like beer you will definitely find something here that you like, especially since they’ll happily blend 2 varieties for a custom experience (like the “strawberry blonde”- a mix of Wit and Red Ale). Stay for live music starting at 9pm!

Old World Brewery does not serve food- please have something to eat before you come down if you’re a lightweight ;)

WHERE: Fibber Magees
1989 W Elliot Rd

WHY: Let’s do some Irish pubbing! Many of our regulars have asked for us to try out Fibber Magee’s for sometime now. Thanks to Roger (@halfacat) for stepping up and making the call! He’s worked out a special for #evfners — 2 for 1 from 6:00 to 7:00, and then 20% off everything until we go/stumble home. Super!

Some folks calls it a tweetup. I calls it an #evfn. Remember the agenda: no agenda. Have fun. Meet people. Party on!

While there hasn’t been an “official” #dtfn event for a couple of weeks, I am sure (based on a detailed scientific analysis of tweets and requests for designated drivers) that there hasn’t been a shortage of stuff to do on Friday night in Downtown Phoenix. So, let’s put our heads together and come up with some more cool events, hangouts, things to do, and general merrymaking in our beloved Central Corridor.

Send a tweet using the #dtfn hashtag with your ideas for future Friday Nights, or just comment on this post with your amazingly creative brilliance. If your idea is super-top-secret, you can email me. Let’s bring back the kickass people and fun of the #dtfn that we all know and love!
